Thus, most electric motorbikes circulating on the market today have electric motor capacity and speeds lower than 4 kW and 50 km/h, so electric motorbike riders do not need a driver's license.

However, for electric motorbikes with electric motor capacity and design speed higher than 4 kW and 50 km/h, the driver must have an A1 driver's license.

3 Is there a penalty for riding an electric motorbike without a driver's license?

4 Is it necessary to register a license plate for an electric motorbike?

Electric motorbikes are required to register for license plates to be allowed to circulate on the road (Circular 15/2014/TT-BCA). Vehicle owners can register for license plates at the Provincial Traffic Police Department or district/town/city police.

  • 140mm high and 190mm long.
  • Symbol MD: Abbreviation for electric machine.
