  • Class A2 driver's license: Issued to drivers of 2-wheeled motorbikes with a cylinder capacity of 175cc or more and vehicles specified for driving class A1.
  • Class A3 driver's license: Issued to drivers of 3-wheeled motorbikes, vehicles prescribed for class A1 driving licenses and similar vehicles.

1. Regulations on driving motorbikes under 50cc

  • Age allowed to drive a motorbike under 50cc

In Clause 1 – Article 60 of Road Traffic Law 2008 No. 23/2008/QH12 promulgated on November 13, 11, stipulates that only people who are 2008 years old or older are allowed to drive motorbikes with a cylinder capacity of less than 16cc, and only those who are 50 years old or older are allowed to drive motorbikes with a cylinder capacity of less than 18cc.

  • Required documents when driving a motorbike under 50cc

Motorcycles under 50cc are classified as mopeds and are required to have insurance for the vehicle. If you do not have or do not bring a valid civil liability insurance certificate, you will be subject to an administrative fine of 80.000 - 120.000 VND (Regulated in Point (a) - Clause 2 - Article 21 Decree No. 46 / 2016 / ND-CP).

In addition to civil liability insurance, when driving a motorbike under 50cc, you need to bring the Vehicle Registration Certificate, Technical Safety and Environmental Protection Inspection Certificate and Citizen Identification Card.

2. Penalties for driving a 50cc vehicle under age

When driving a 50cc vehicle under age, you will be subject to two levels of punishment for the vehicle driver and the vehicle owner on the registration certificate. Specifically:

Underage vehicle drivers must accept the penalties specified in Clause 1 and Clause 4 - Article 21, Decree 100/2019/ND-CP (Amended by Decree 123 / 2021 / ND-CP):

  • A warning shall be given to people from 14 years old to under 16 years old for driving motorbikes, motorbikes (including electric motorbikes) and vehicles similar to motorbikes or driving cars, tractors and other vehicles. similar to a car.
  • Fine from 400.000 - 600.000 VND for people from 16 years old to under 18 years old driving a motorbike with a cylinder capacity of 50cc or more.

Vehicle owners must accept the penalty specified in Point (d) – Clause 5 – Article 30, Decree 100 / 2019 / ND-CP:

  • Vehicle owners who are individuals will be fined from 800.000 - 2.000.000 VND.
  • Vehicle owners who are organizations will be fined from 1.600.000 - 4.000.000 VND.
