Racing Aka First Launched At AXCR 2019 - Unexpected Success
Professional racing team Racing Aka under the umbrella of Mitsubishi in Vietnam participated in the ASIA Cross Country Rally cross-country racing which took place from August 10-16, 2019 in Thailand and Myanmar and ended with a very proud result. Overall ranking 17/34, 5th in the original oil motorcycle segment.
Right before participating in the first stage, the leadership of Racing Aka racing association set a goal of rubbing and learning for two athletes: Hoang Giang and Tran Cong Phat. This is a moderate and practical criterion because the team does not have much time to prepare a Mitsubishi Triton version of the competition.
This is also the first time a Vietnamese motor racing team participates in the continental arena, so modesty is most necessary when strong racing teams from Thailand and Japan have many years of experience at ASIA Cross Country Rally. also known as AXCR. Thus, the Vietnamese team entered the brand-new playing field with insufficient preparation as expected. The car is upgraded with suspension, snorkel, front bumper, no anti-roll cabin and racing seats and some other communication parts, but that is not enough to compete fairly with the racing teams. experienced. Even two days before the first race happened, the technical members of Racing Aka were still racing against time to complete the Mitsubishi Triton. Witnessing the urgency of the whole team, no one is optimistic about a sudden result like the elephant locust. Few races where the first two are the most difficult. The total distance that racing teams must travel in these two stages is 1100km, of which 450km is the official timed track.
In stage 1, while nearly a quarter of the team encountered technical problems at the opening stage, Vietnam's Racing Aka team successfully completed 201 difficult and challenging offroad tracks. The second race is much more difficult with narrow terrain and a series of muddy puddles over half the wheel. Fortunately, the Mitsubishi Triton car has successfully completed more than 200km of the track while still finishing the finish line. When Vietnamese athletes are just getting used to the harsh pace of competition at AXCR, they have to face the longest and most difficult race of the season.
Stage 2: The first challenge comes from the general movement of nearly 600km that every team has to go through, the total distance of the second stage is also long with 234km of the dangerous offroad road. The second and biggest challenge is the difficulty of the two tracks compared to the relatively easy strips in the first stage. With the second race, two racers of Racing Aka have to overcome many dams with extremely slippery gravel roads and crushed stones as well as have to cross the jungle with limited visibility. Luckily, with skillful car control. The two riders Hoang Giang and Cong Phat together with the Mitsubishi Triton overcame all challenges of stage 2 completely in about 4 hours, reaching the target set by the team.
Stage 3 is especially difficult for even high-end racing teams. Contrary to the very long second leg, stage 3 has a total of 174 km through the forest. Not only is the 174km to balance the brain for the main driver, but the challenge for the side racer is equally difficult. Behind the swamp is a dense forest where the auxiliary racer has to both read and write while focusing on the road ahead, comparing the data with the book and the actual path to make an immediate decision. However, two riders Hoang Giang and Cong Phat and Mitsubishi Triton have overcome all challenges in the third stage completely without experiencing any significant losses except for the broken side mirror panel due to the impact of the tree trunk. .
As such, the Racing Aka team has overcome the most difficult roads in Thailand and is ready to conquer the final races taking place in Myanmar. AXCR 2019 tournament came to Myanmar at the right time when the country was suffering a historic storm. The offroad track was destroyed by floodwaters and the organizers had to cancel the 4th stage, even moving to the hotel was hard because the roads were almost completely submerged in the sea.
The fifth stage has a journey not too long, only nearly 100km. Therefore, this is the last hope for the groups to compete for the rankings, the 5th race is the last chance for the seed groups to win the score. Realizing that the track that day was not too difficult and muddy, the team instructed 2 athletes to put their full power, fiercely dispute the rankings and accept the risk of vehicle damage. But the more encouraging result is that the first two Vietnamese riders to overcome the 11th place after finishing half of the fifth stage. Completing the second half, Racing Aka team won 17th place in the race. 5 and 18th in the overall table after 5 rounds. This is a very good result and even though it's just the first time, Racing Aka is still in the top 5 of the T2D competition.
The 6th stage is an authentic marathon with a track of only about 50km and mostly straight lines, with only a muddy area about 2km from the finish line. In the first top, the two seed teams of the Isuzu TLTAT and Toyota Cross country teams are having an extremely intense race to compete for the championship. However, the race in the middle top is equally interesting, the teams are only less than 10 minutes behind each other, which means just one mistake like a bog or getting lost, the middle ranking will be disturbed. Not to be disappointed, the two Racing Aka riders excelled on the safe finish and finished the ASIA CROSS COUNTRY RALLY 2019 season with the final 17/34, ranking 5th in the original oil engine segment. This is an achievement that surpasses the expectations of the team leader and is the foundation for Racing Aka to achieve more ambitious goals for the next season.
