CUV, SUV, MPV are 3 multi-purpose models that are easy to confuse with many people, especially CUVs and SUVs. So before buying one of these three models, consumers should learn more carefully to choose a car that is suitable for themselves and their family.

First, we will find out the differences between the concept of these 3 models.

SUV is the abbreviation for Sport Utility Vehicle is a family car with a high chassis, traveling on many terrains. In Vietnam, this model has options such as Mitsubishi pajero sport, Ford Everest, Toyota Fortuner, BMW X5, Audi Q7, Vinfast Lux FA 2.0, etc.

CUV is the abbreviation of Crossover Utility Vehicle, a type of car designed in a cross-country sport style, also suitable for small families, smaller cars, lower undercarriage compared to SUVs. CUV is actually a hybrid of SUV and Sedan such as Mazda CX5, Honda CRV, Kia Sorento.

MPV, short for Multiple - Purpose Vehicle, is a multipurpose vehicle with a broad design with many functions, especially flexibly switching between passenger and cargo. In Vietnam, popular MPVs include Toyota Innova, Mitsubishi Xpander, Ford Tourneo, Kia Sedona, ... For MPV, the configuration is larger from 9 to 16 seats, called vans. Vehicles are often used for passenger transportation or used in businesses. Common names such as: Grand Starex VIP 9 seats, Toyota Hiace 16 seats, Ford Transit 16 seats, Mercedes Benz Winter 16 seats.

MPV

CUVs, SUVs, and MPVs have all in common, are cars with high grounding and can carry more people than Sedan, Coupe or Hatchback lines. In which, CUV and SUV are 2 lines with similar body structure, MPV is easier to distinguish.

CUV

Of the three models, the SUV has the highest undercarriage, followed by the CUV and the MPV with the lowest of the three.

The second factor mentioned is the purpose of use, the same high undercarriage, large space, the ability to run on difficult terrain, so SUVs and CUVs are often popular with families without too many members. However, for offroad quality, CUV cannot be compared to SUVs because SUVs have more offroad support features such as bridge function, visai lock, part-time 4-wheel drive with standard active rear axle. CUVs are mostly front-wheel drive, some vehicles have a full-time 4-wheel drive option, but the main driving task is still 2 front wheels.

MPV

Small MPVs like the Xpander have front-wheel drive, mid-sized and large cars such as Innova and transit with rear-wheel drive. However, because of its large size and no 4-wheel drive system, in general, MPVs are not really optimal when going off-road, so MPVs are often bought for transport business purposes or for families with many generation. Crossover has a chassis attached to the chassis so the car is compact and light like a Sedan, so the useful space is larger than the heavy, bulky and limited transport frame, but the disadvantage of monocoque chassis is noise. The vibrations from the tires resounded from the passenger compartment better than the SUV. The same goes for MPV. However, in the three types of vehicles above, the MPV has the best transport space thanks to the foldable, flexible rear seats to switch from passenger to cargo.

CUV

The final factor we learn about differences with SUVs, CUVs and MPVs is the ability to cross the terrain thanks to the chassis structure that prevents twisting on difficult terrain, increases load capacity, minimizes noise and impact. use of the road surface to the vehicle compartment. SUVs have better performance in carrying, towing, and off-road offroad compared to CUV. However, the CUV's over-terrain capabilities are superior to the MPV's. In fact, with the long body characteristics, many seats, the MPV low undercarriage, it is difficult to cross the terrain well. With the knowledge of three types of SUVs, CUV and MPV hope many people will choose the right car suitable for their own purposes and for their families.
