Hello friends, this is Ford Ecosport 2018. Appearing in Vietnam since 2014, Ford Ecosport has gone through three product cycles. And changing and updating this model is a necessity, so that Ford Ecosport can continue to retain the king in the urban Crossover segment.
And today, we will discover what is new in Ecosport 2018 compared to the previous version. First of all, I want to talk about the overall part of the car. You don't have to be a very observant user, you can easily realize that Ecosport here is just an upgraded version.
The overall design remains the same as the previous version. The front of the car is quite short, the rear of the car, I temporarily call it a bit of a truncated word, and especially at the wheelbase. The wheelbase of Ecosport 2018 remains at 2520mm. It is only slightly better than the previous generation by 1mm.
All the overall details have not changed much. But the changes are Ford focused on small details. First, at the front of the car, you can easily see that the hexagonal grille has been redesigned by Ford. It is more aggressive and equipped with the honeycomb motifs here.
It makes this urban car more sporty and the Ford logo is no longer located in the mesh in the small grille above this. And it's in the middle here. But somehow makes the Ford Ecosport more bunker.
Here we have a Ford Ecosport using a 1.5 Dragon engine and a Titanium version. The high-end version, but unfortunately, Ford does not equip this version with a set of Projector lights. Projector lights only appear on version 1.0 Eco Boost.
This is a pity for this urban car model. Because at present, the majority of car models, even low-priced models, already use Projector lights. In addition, in my opinion this is a minus point on the 2018 Ford Ecosport.
The part of the LED daytime running lights here has been cut off by Ford. Quite a pity, but Ford changed the design by bringing the turn signals down to this part. This design, for me personally, is not really beautiful but fancy. It gives Ford Ecosport something new, more attractive than the old version.
Finally, I want to mention the front part of the car that is this front cassette. This front cassette is also extended and it gives this urban model something that seems ready to conquer the terrain. Despite the fact that the Ford Ecosport is not an off-road vehicle. Next, we will try to discover if the body is the rear of the car, has anything changed? Compared to previous version.
As for the body, I believe that many people cannot distinguish the 2018 Ford Ecosport and the old generation. However, there are two new points that I want to mention here: the design of the teeth has been changed a bit. While it's still a bit weak for a car with a bit of terrain orientation, it has been raised to 17 inches in size instead of 16 inches as before.
It somehow makes the car stronger. But overall, looking at the horizontal part of the body, the Ecosport still looks quite heavy. Still lacking a certain amount of airiness of a directional car that can handle a bit of terrain. The second difference is the part of the keyless door opening system here. Previously, Ecosport used a small black button on the handle. But now it has moved up to become a touch bar at the top of this. It is quite similar to the design of Lexus models.
Besides the two changes just now, I almost believe that you will hardly find any new differences. Let's explore the back of the car together. At the rear of the car as I mentioned before. The design has not changed, but there is a new point that Ecosport has been equipped with a reverse camera here. In addition to the reverse sensor and the illustration with pictures.
The reverse camera here is also an update that I believe car buyers are also very interested in. Also slightly different from the North American version, Ecosport 2018 in Vietnam still maintains the design of using a spare wheel box at the rear. It somewhat makes this small car it heavy, heavier than the small style of the car.
And of course, it's like the classic Vietnamese car models. But does not really match the overall design of the car. That's my personal opinion and let's find out if the storage space has changed.
Ecosport's storage space, in my observation, is still the same. Ford still has a design that I appreciate quite a bit. It's the recess here, making the storage space more spacious than you can imagine. There is also a very new point here. That's the part of the shelf here that has been removed. We were able to remove this shelf.
It is different from the old Ecosport because the old Ecosport has a non-removable overhead shelf. And so when you put tall objects like this, for example, it's going to be very difficult. A rather deafening point is that Ecosport 2018 has not been updated with the rear seats that can be folded flat. The rear seats can still only be partially folded. From there, it somewhat limits the car's storage space.
I believe that Ecosport users will have a need to store a lot of stuff. Because this is an urban car model. And that's a pretty unfortunate point. Below this, we also have nothing new to update. If the North American version would have been, we would have had the spare wheel located here and the rear end would have been more elegant. Now we will explore the interior space of the car.
Stepping into the interior space of Ecosport 2018, perhaps if you follow the international press, you will quickly realize that this is the design of the interior of the new generation Fiesta. And similar to the previous generation Ecosport embodies a high ground version of the Fiesta. And everything updated in my opinion is much more modern and beautiful than the previous generation.
In addition, perhaps the first noticeable point when I step on the interior of the new Ecosport is that the plastic part in the dashboard has been updated to a soft plastic that feels more advanced than the old generation. However, the plastic on the door sill for example or other plastic details is still hard plastic. It's not advanced enough.
Regarding the steering wheel of Ecosport, it has been continuously updated to resemble the recent new Ford models. It can be said that it is very similar to the steering wheel of the Ford Focus covered in leather, soft and very comfortable. Also, maybe we'll try the engine. See if the new 1.5 engine has changed.
The motor has a very small guarantee. For me, this is also a plus point similar to the old generation Ecosport. The sound of the engine echoing into the cabin is hardly annoying. Even high revs. I am stepping on the gas to 3000 rpm, the sound of the engine coming in is still not annoying. Yes, so does the whistle. I also often test low-priced cars by honking the horn to see if the siren echoing back into the cabin is loud. Not with Ecosport. Although the whistle is very loud.
Another very big change that you can quickly realize is that Ecosport has been updated with the synch bar system with a touch screen here. It is similar to the equipment on other high-end Ford models such as the Ford Everest model. It's intuitive, it's easy to control, and it's a lot more ergonomic. You can control a lot of things here.
Connect to your phone, give voice commands, combine with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto system… a lot of new and interesting features that you can easily discover on the Ecosport 2018. One point The update is worth it.
There is also the air conditioner here, in my opinion, it has not been really updated to make it more convenient. With the old Ecosport, the air conditioning design is a bit difficult to see when you sit up straight and drive like this. To control the air conditioning system here and on this Ecosport 2018, the weakness is still repeated. For me, the air conditioning system here is also quite difficult to observe.

I would even have to lean a little like this to see the numbers here. The gearbox part also has a new change that you will also be able to immediately recognize that is instead of the manual gear shift button here. Then Ecosport equips a feature that is the downhill support feature when you press the button here. For example, the downhill assist feature will keep the automatic transmission in low gear and help the car have the ability to brake at the engine. A feature that on the previous Ecosport version you will have to manually adjust with the plus and minus buttons here.
Another point that I have also realized is that the Ecosport no longer holds the folding armrest here. The armrest has been replaced with a new one like this. For me, this type of armrest is also ok. But I like this kind of folding up and down more. It seems to fit my body better. In my current sitting position I have adjusted the seat.
The chair is still manual, I have adjusted the chair to fit my sitting position. It is a pity that the vision on Ecosport has not been changed much. The bonnet is a bit rough, the dashboard here is also a bit high, it somewhat limits the visibility of the occupants of the car. Especially the very thick column A has not been changed, a very unfortunate point. Even Ecosport's A-pillar is thicker than Everest, a model that can be said to be huge compared to this small car.
The next update point is that Ecosport is equipped with two usb ports here. Those are two usb ports so you can connect your Ios or Android devices to the apple CarPlay or Android Auto system here. It is very convenient, it helps you to control the functions on the phone right at this touch screen.

The next point that I continue to have to criticize the Ecosport is that its design protrudes like this. It makes the space in the car not really airy. Unfortunately, I think the flat or slightly recessed design will create more space on small cars like this.
In the front row, I may have forgotten that I will also challenge the synch bar's voice command system a bit. Perhaps if you have used the synch system on the previous generation Ford Ecosport, you will quickly realize that the synch bar has a much faster sensitivity. In addition, here, according to my observation, the voice command system also updates many features. A very significant upgrade, very commendable of Ford Ecosport.
Unfortunately, one point I expect in Ecosport 2018 to be upgraded is that the ability to adjust the steering wheel far and near has not been updated yet. The steering wheel here can still only be adjusted up and down, not far and near. It is quite difficult to find a comfortable sitting position for people whose physique is not really tall. Ok, maybe we'll move on to check if there's any update in the second row?
Stepping into the rear seats, perhaps all the details remain unchanged compared to the previous Ecosport version. I adjusted the front seats to fit my posture and sitting in the back was quite comfortable. I can stretch my legs like this, the space above my head or the flat surface of this row of seats is also quite large. I believe three people can also sit quite comfortably. But a minus point that I think is a huge minus point with the urban model is that there is no air vent for the rear seats.
Here Ford is equipped with two buttons to open and lock the door, not air conditioning. And this will be a minus point for those who use the car for the family. Sitting in the back like this is also difficult to have a cool temperature quickly. In addition, Ford still suffers from a weakness that is not equipped with a handle at the top of this. It is a much-needed element for cars that are a bit off-road oriented. When you are traveling on bad roads, having a grip like this is essential. Unfortunately, Ford continues to not equip Ecosport.

And perhaps it is very flawed when we do not mention the new 1.5 Dragon engine equipped on Ecosport 2018. This engine still has a capacity of 1.5.
