Penalties for Violation of Road Traffic Rules

According to Decree 171/2013/ND-CP on Regulations on administrative sanctions in the field of road and railway traffic. The regulations are as follows:

1. Violation of Road Traffic Rules

+ Fine from 60.000 – 80.000 VND In those cases:

  • Failure to obey road signs
  • Using audio equipment
  • Using a cell phone
  • Use umbrellas

+ Fine from 80.000 – 100.000 VND In those cases:

  • Do not turn on the lights when it is dark, foggy..
  • Turning at a place where U-turns are prohibited
  • Sound the horn from 22pm to 5am the next day

+ Fine from 100.000 – 200.000 VND In those cases:

  • Bring 2 adults
  • Running over the specified speed from 5 – 10 km/h
  • No helmet
  • Wearing the wrong helmet

+ Fine from 200.000 – 400.000 VND In those cases:

  • Driving the car on the highway
  • Running a red light
  • Bring from 3 adults

+ Fine from 500.000 – 1.000.000 VND In those cases:

  • Over speeding by 10-20km/h
  • Alcohol concentration exceeds 50mg – 80mg/100ml of blood

+ Fine from 2.000.000 – 3.000.000 VND In those cases:

  • Exceeding the speed limit of more than 20km/h
  • Alcohol concentration exceeds 80mg/100ml of blood

+ Fine from 5.000.000 – 7.000.000 VND In those cases:

  • Let go of both hands
  • Use your feet to control the car
  • Lying on the driver's seat
  • Sit to one side

2. Violations on vehicles participating in road traffic

  • No rearview mirror: Penalty from 80.000 – 100.000 VND
  • No vehicle registration certificate, no license plate: Fine from 300.000 – 400.000 VND
  • Without a driver's license: Fine from 800.000 – 1.000.000 VND
